Tenure-track Assistant Professor to teach courses in HUMAN/CULTURAL
GEOGRAPHY with teaching/research interests in CULTURAL or POLITICAL
ECOLOGY. Desired topical interests might include (but not limited to)
global change; environmental policy, planning and injustice; migration
studies; and/or a regional specialty. The candidate must demonstrate
proficiency in contemporary theoretical developments in cultural
geography. The candidate must also demonstrate a willingness and
ability to incorporate into their teaching/research culturally diverse
perspectives such as those from, but not limited to: women's studies,
American Indian studies, and non-Western cultures.
A demonstrated ability to teach courses in cartography or GIS is
required. The department desires individuals with additional
methodological competencies to complement and extend our current
strengths in one or more of the following areas: field methods,
modeling, regional synthesis, cultural criticism, and other qualitative
and quantitative techniques.
PhD in Geography (or closely related field, such as Anthropology)
required by 1/23/2003. University teaching/TA experience is required.
Evidence of effective communication skills required, as well as
demonstrated potential for departmental, College and University
