CALL FOR SIG PROPOSALS
Do you like to discuss your work, interests and most innovative ideas
with people of the HCI community? Special Interest Groups (SIGs) at CHI
2002 are a great opportunity to meet people who share your interests and
to learn more about other approaches related to "your" topic area. As
SIGs have a very informal structure focusing on interactive and lively
discussion they provide a great chance to come in touch with researchers
and practitioners from different areas of the world to build new
collaborations and form new perspectives.
For newcomers to the CHI community organizing a SIG provides a good
opportunity to be involved in the program for the first time.
SUBMISSION
To make a submission find a colleague to work with as SIGs must be
organized by two or more persons representing at least two
organizations. Describe in a two-page proposal the content of the SIG,
its relevance to the HCI community, and how the SIG discussion will be
organized, including a draft schedule indicating how you plan to make
use of the 90 minutes which are assigned to a SIG meeting.
Further information on how to prepare a proposal can be found on the
SIG's web-page, http://www.acm.org/sigchi/chi2002/sigs.html, which also
provides access to sample submissions of previous successful SIGs.
TOPIC
The topic of the proposed SIG could be related to the CHI2002
conference theme of "changing the world, changing ourselves" and its
related areas that can be found at
http://www1.acm.org/sigs/sigchi/chi2002/theme.html. Alternately, you
can choose any other interesting subject which will attract a
subcommunity of the conference attendees.
Feel free to contact us and discuss your ideas on this.
IMPORTANT DATES
Submissions due 7 December 2001
Notification of acceptance / rejection 21 January 2002
CHI 2002 Conference 22-24 April 2002
