A question about the concept of position statements:
Is anyone planning to audit the compliance with the position statement? My
guess is that the current reality of A&E anaesthetic machine checking is
generally far removed from the position statement (if we are talking about
checks of a standard and regularity comparable with theatre machines).
I wonder how many departments will take positive steps to ensure changes in
working practice to comply with this position statement? I would be
surprised if the standard of checking improves purely due to the issuing of
the statement.
Maybe an investigation of this would have implications for the development
and
implementation of future position statements?
