Notwithstanding the validity of the comments regarding NT4/5 patients,
it is established in U.K. practice that an A&E-experienced GP (which
Chris M is) will tend to investigate less, prescribe less and refer less
than an A&E SHO. Too idle to look up the reference just now, but I
vaguely remember this is backed up by an "outcomes and patient
perception" study which was favourable to GPs in this setting. Modesty
prevents me from saying that A&E specialists (middle and senior grades)
