Good point Adrian. Has anyone "knocked on the head" the antiquated system of
drug cupboard keys yet? I'm sure we have all requested CD's or other drugs
only to find that someone has gone home with the keys or the person with the
keys are out of tannoy range. I know some departments have a bleep attached
to the drug keys, but surely in this day and age there is a better system.
Finger print readers cost less than £50. PIN numbers would also be a
solution.
Any ideas?
Andy

Are prefilled syringes of Morphine available - or are all the medico-legal
and
safety issues overwhelmingly large? Would this make it easier to deliver
analgesia - could design Drugs cupboard where you have to electronically
sign in
and out??
Still 2 nurse check. Could have levels of access to cabinet - who knows who
goes
in drug cupboards now? You could log out the drugs - even allowing for
automatic
requisition!
Just a thought
