I often face strange complains like what you said from patients . It's
difficult to explain how that ice-like sensation appeared with common
neurologic knowledge. Based on my experience, the distribution of such
abnormal sensation areas always is not according to dermatomes but along
Channels---a special word in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is proved to
be infomation-conducting- pathways of autonomic nervous system on the skin
,by Chinese scholars recently. Here I have many methods to solve the problem
and TENS is not the best one.But in your country maybe it is the only way
for you to use.you can try points like this : 1.on the neck skin , in the
depression between m. sternocleido-mastoideus and m. trapezius, just
at the posterior hairline.2.about 1.5 inch above the transverse crease of
the dorsum of wrist ,between the radius and ulna . 3.in the middle of m.
vastus medialis or m. vastus lateralis. 4.in the depression between the tip
of the external malleolus and tendon calcaneus. if you have some instruments
that can warm the skin during TENS the result will be better.and I think
maybe using lower frequency is more effective,e.g.1-3Hz.
