The Children's Play Council is holding six seminars for everyone
interested in influencing government policy on children's play. At
these events we will present the findings of our research
programme into play and play provision and listen to your ideas on
recommendations for our final report to DCMS.
Our research programme for DCMS has aimed at making the links
between play and public policy to ena ble us to put forward
strategic proposals for improving children's play opportunities. Over
the las t 18 months we have been:
a.. reviewing research on the value of play and play provision to
children and to society
b.. investigating the links between play provision and government
policy
c.. mapping local play policies and provision
d.. reviewing children and parents' views on children's play and
leisure activities
We would like our final proposals to be informed and supported by
a range of people involved in chi ldren's play, and so would
welcome bookings from everyone with an interest in contributing to
these participative events.
We will be holding these seminars across England in Birmingham,
Bristol, Chesterfield, Devon, Leeds and London.

The seminars:
Each seminar will be from 10 am – 3 pm, with a buffet lunch. All
venues are fully accessible. There is a fee of £15 to cover
organising expenses and lunch. Child care expenses can be paid.
