To any interested.
It was my group the Temple Local History Group in conjunction with the
Builders who 'rediscovered' the Jacob's Well here in Bristol. As a result of
that momentous discovery, believed by Jewish historians, to be the oldest in
Europe, although its use as a local spring was known, up to Victorian times,
its role as a pre-expulsion Mikveh, was not.
Since then, 1987, we have been carrying out a sysematic exploration and
surveying of all of Bristol's medieval water system, comprising, springs,
wells, conduits and pipes.
The JW forms the subject of an A4 80 page report, so far only limited
publication because of cost, although I am thinking of publishing it on CD.
The report includes a set of A3 fold out plans of the different features
together with an AO consolidated plan of all the features in the area.
If anyone is interested in knowing more, drop me a line.
Julian.
