Peak villages are so well dressed!
ALL'S well that ends well after eight Peak District villages won
prizes in a special ceremony for the National Park's
50th.anniversary.
The Sheffield,Peak District and South Yorkshire branch of the
Council for the Protection of Rural England,along with the Peak
District National Park donated more than £500 prize money to
villages keeping alive the tradtion of well dressing..
VIEWS
The £250 prize for best well dressing went to Fooloqw for a
display that included views of Monsall Dale,Eyam Church and
Ladybower Reservoir.
Socond prize of £100 went to Tintwistle Women's Institute with
joint third prizes of £50 each going to Hathersage and Wirksworth.
A well created by the Children of Bonsall was "highly
commended" and received a special prize donated by the Peak
Pack Horse Society.Chair of t he National Peak Park Authority,Sir
Martin Doughty,said:"Over 20 villages took part and the overall
quality of the entries was outstanding"
He added:"Here images from oue natural heritage were
celebrated in floral works of art that are part of our cultual heritage
in ways entirely appropriate for the 50th anniversary of the National
Park."
