Springs, Spouts, Fountains and Holy Wells of the Malvern Hills
New for November this year – a revised and extended third edition of the
famous guide to the water sources on the Malvern Hills, with maps and many
more illustrations.
The water has been used medicinally since at least the 1620s and Malvern
Wells developed as a modest spa in the mid-eighteenth century. By 1800 Great
Malvern village began its rise to fame and fortune as more and more people,
recognising the value of its healthy air and water, came to visit and settle
in the locality. Today this water heritage can be found all round the
Malvern Hills: there are over 80 springs, spouts, fountains and holy wells;
you can also discover former water bottling works, and the sites of early
spas. This publication is designed as an anti-clockwise circular tour and
guide to Malvern’s celebrated water sites.
To secure an advance, special price, copy of the book, send a cheque for
five pounds together with your name and address to Cora Weaver, 4 Hall
Green, Malvern, Worcs. WR14 3QX. Your book will be sent, signed by the
authors, from the first available.
