Asylum Seekers and Integration
The Irish Social Policy Association, in association with the Applied Social
Science Research Programme (SSRC), University College Dublin, presents a
half-day conference on asylum seekers and integration.
The conference will take place on Wednesday 7th November 2001 at the offices
of the Equality Authority, Clonmel Street (off Harcourt Street), Dublin 2.

This will be followed by the presentation of four papers.
Direct Provision and Dispersal 18 Months On
The paper examines the impact upon asylum seeker welfare of the
implementation of 'direct provision' in conjunction with a dispersal
programme.

An Infrastructure which Supports Integration?
The paper explores contributions from the statutory, voluntary and community
sectors to the emerging infrastructure drawing on findings from two current
research projects.

Direct Provision: A Welfare Rights Perspective
The paper considers the legal basis of direct provision within the context
of social welfare legislation.

(FLAC)
Asylum Seekers and Social Work
The paper explores the developing role of social workers in responding to
the needs of asylum seekers in Ireland.
Presented by Dr Alisdair Christie, Department of Applied Social Studies,
University College Cork
