Hello, again, Colleagues -
As I have received a few kind responses to this query, but that pertain to
muscle pain of a more orthopedic nature, I see I need to clarify the scope
of this query. In the patient population with CNS dysfunction, upper motor
neuron syndrome, hemiplegia, due to brain injury or CVA, the relationship
between pain and increased spasticity (defined as hyperreflexia) and
stiffness (i/e/ hypertonus) is commonly observed, but would anyone know of
any writings that confirm, deny, describe, or discuss the physiology of
this connection?
We have undertaken several searched on PubMed and come up with so little
that we thought we might be missing something.
Thanks again in advance,
Beverly Cusick, PT, MS
