Art & Architecture: a Digital Learning Resource
Project Director - up to £40,000
Art & Architecture is a 3-year project funded by the New Opportunities
Fund's Digitise programme to create the UK's leading digital image
collection and learning resource on Western art and architecture drawn from
the Courtauld Institute of Art's world-class collections of paintings,
drawings and photographs. The project will include the digitisation of
40,000 images, the creation of a searchable database and the development of
educational content aimed at teachers and learners of all levels and ages.

The Courtauld is looking to appoint an outstanding candidate as Project
Director, to lead the project and take full responsibility for its
implementation and delivery. This will include detailed project planning and
scheduling, the recruitment of a new team, procurement of equipment and
systems, management of the overall production process and systems
development to meet targets for online delivery starting December 2002. The
postholder will report to a Project Board and provide the main interface
between the Courtauld Institute and the New Opportunities Fund.
The successful applicant will have a background in IT and project
management, a knowledge of digitisation technology and processes and,
preferably, prior experience in the cultural and education sectors. S/he
will have demonstrable experience of developing and delivering projects in
this area. Organisational and management skills are essential.
The position is offered for a fixed term of 2 3/4 years (starting January
2002 at the latest). A salary of £30 - 40,000 will be offered, depending on
experience. The Courtauld Institute of Art is ideally looking for a
full-time appointment, but will consider more flexible options if
appropriate.
