Dear Colleagues
Dates for your diary:
The German History Society will hold its first Public Lecture on Friday
30 November, 7pm, at UCL. Professor Jonathan Sperber (Missouri) will
speak on 'Another Side of Civil Society: The Uses of Property during
the Nineteenth Century'. There will be a drinks reception after this
event. Everyone is welcome.
On Saturday 1 December, the GHS AGM begins at 10am (coffee from 9.30).
This year's theme is 'Property in German History'. Members and non-
members alike are welcome to join us, though the business meeting of
the Society (12-1) is open only to members. Full details of the
programme for the day are at:
http://members.tripod.co.uk/GHS/agm2001-prog.html
The Society's website has now been updated after some technical
difficulties earlier in the year. The site includes details of the
Society and its journal (including a full index to the journal), and
information about forthcoming events of interest to those working in
German history and German studies.
The URL is: http://members.tripod.co.uk/GHS/
May I also take this opportunity of giving advance information about
the regional conference to be held in Southampton on 13-14 September
2002 on 'German history from the margins'. Full details of this,
including the Call for Papers, are at:
http://www.soton.ac.uk/~nr2/Conference.htm
I hope to see you at future GHS events.
Mark Allinson
(Apologies for any cross-postings)
