Financial systems research, Bank of England
We are looking to recruit an economist with advanced quantitative skills or
a theoretical scientist/mathematician with an active interest in economics
and finance. Your role will be to carry out economic research on a range of
challenging financial stability and efficiency issues related to the
financial infrastructure. At present the major research projects concern
payment systems and central counterparties in securities markets.
The primary role is to undertake policy-relevant but rigorous research that
can be published. There may also be the opportunity for involvement in the
development of public policy at a national or international level.
The successful applicant will have proven research ability, ideally at PhD
level. Expertise in microeconomics, monetary economics or finance would be
a strong advantage and you should also have experience in theoretical
modelling. Familiarity with Monte Carlo simulation techniques and knowledge
of Gauss, VBA or C++ would be an asset.
