FAO local authority officers - we all know that land contamination is a
material planning consideration, and brownfield sites are a key focus for
new development. So far so good. But how much knowledge will applicants for
planning permission declare?
In what may be a novel practice we have added a new section to Chichester
DC's planning application forms, requiring information about land
contamination to be formally declared. 'Land contamination' extends to
groundwater and is defined in the accompanying notes. These notes refer
applicants to Technical Guidance which we must now produce.
Has your authority prepared any TECHNICAL ADVICE OR GUIDANCE specifically
on land contamination? If so I'd be grateful for a copy, and happy to
share anything we've done (including new standard conditions) which might
be of use.
