The University wishes to fill the following two new professorial
positions within the School of Computing; competitive salaries are
available for each of these posts.
Chair in Computing
A Chair of Computing is sought whose academic strength, energy, and
vision will contribute to strengthening Leeds' position as an
international research centre in Computing and Informatics. All
relevant areas will be considered but preference may be given to those
who can strengthen or complement our existing research groups:
Computer Vision and Language, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning,
Multi-disciplinary Informatics, Scientific Computation and
Visualization, Theoretical Computer Science.

Chair in Informatics
Informatics Research Institute
The University has made a strong strategic commitment to
multidisciplinary informatics research with a multi-million investment
in state of the art visualization laboratories and a White Rose
Computational Grid providing a High Performance Computing service to
the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York. The newly formed
Informatics Research Institute (IRI), within the School of Computing,
is spearheading this initiative. It is leading Informatics research
in multi-disciplinary partnerships to advance understanding of
bio-systems; health, law and corporate informatics; E-science and
related topics.
A Chair of Informatics, within the School of Computing, is sought
whose academic strength, energy, and vision will contribute to
strengthening Leeds' position as an international research centre in
Informatics. All relevant areas will be considered but preference
will be given to a person who can build multi-disciplinary
partnerships that will strengthen core research areas in Bio-systems
(including Bio-informatics); Virtual environments and simulation;
Informatics architectures (including E-science and GRID
architectures); Knowledge management and leaning technologies, or that
will develop new areas such as e-commerce or e-business, or advance
computational modelling across academic disciplines.
A competitive salary within the professorial scale (minimum 42,500
p.a.) will be offered to the right candidates.
