Our orthopods insist on them being seen first in A & E and it is a waste of
everybody's time. I have tried changing things but when it is one against 6
what can you do. It gets hairy over bank holidays when so many clinics are
cancelled that I have even been asked to see some returns myself that can't get
fracture clinic appts. By the time some are seen they have healthy callous
formation. Can't see it changing much.

Staffs
BTW
Woke up two days ago to see the CMO on the box and his words of wisdom telling
me how well informed I had been on BW. Notice it was the A & E depts that took
the brunt of the work when suspect packages are opened. Don't know many A & E
depts that have the training or the equipment for NBC attacks. It will be the
staff in our depts. who are very vulnerable. I have been trying to get an
airshelta here as well as a few NBC suits for years, mainly because I'm more
concerned about OP's. in a rural community. Should be interesting to see if
we get any movement in the next few weeks. Although I doubt it.
I have been taking Rifampicin for atypical AFB's myself and unfortunately will
be so for a further 6 months. As far as I know I am covered for B anthracis
and Y pestis, as it does kill all most known germs. It certainly gives me some
consolation, I certainly don't worry about opening my mail any more. Have the
powers that be considered giving it prophylactically for health srvice
personnel.
