Kate,
The information you require for the Dudley SMR is:
- The format of the SMR at the moment is a dual system using a Borough
networked GIS system called
Axis, and a newly acquired EXEGESIS package.
- We keep information on the SMR concerning all archaeological excavations
that have been done and that
are being done in the borough.
- We keep all Statutory Listed Buildings on the SMR.
- We keep all Locally Listed Buildings on the SMR.
- At he moment we are also adding map evidence (parish and O.S. maps) of
all the past recorded
industrial features within the Borough. These include: collierys,
ironworks, glassworks, brick making
works, watermills, windmills and sandstone and limestone
quarries/galleries.
- We are also working on a more general landscape study going back to
c.1300. It is interesting that
this is beginning to highlight features, small as well as large, that
will be added to the SMR, i.e. holy wells,
field systems etc.
I hope this is of some use to you. Best of luck in your new job.
John Hemingway.

Subject: SMRs and the HEIRNET Register
