Historic Environment Information Resources Network (HEIRNET)
The HEIRNET consortium is pleased to announce that, with the financial
support of English Heritage, RCAHMS, RCAHMW and the Archaeology Data Service
(ADS), we now have a part-time member of staff. Kate Fernie has been
seconded by English Heritage to HEIRNET and she will be spending three days
a week taking forwards the initiatives recommended in the HEIRNET report
'Mapping information resources'. These include:
(a) developing the Register of HEIRs for the UK
(b) developing a technical advisory service for HEIRNET
(c) promoting interoperability between HEIRs and their incorporation into
the historic environment Z39.50 gateway
Kate is based in the ADS offices in the University of York and she can be
contacted by email at [log in to unmask] Normally she will working for HEIRNET
on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
