Occy health for next working day re-assessment and serology testing. GUM
for counselling.
If you are thinking of acquiescing to provide Occy health's out of hours
risk assessment and dispensing service for them (don't get me started on
that again), make sure Occy helath / microbiology are clearly in teh
clinical driving seat. A&E should stay well away from counselling and
follow-up. We merely offer a very basic level risk assessment and
dispensing service when occy health are shut. The patient advice leaflet
in the starter packs passes for drug information. In case of any queries
/ difficulties, our very helpful microbiology and occy health
consultants are the next port of call (though they won't thank me for
saying that). THEY should provide the risk assessment proforma and
written details to the victim about follow-up etc. Our lot have been
very happy to proceed on this basis. I've had a couple of requests from
colleagues off-list for our occy health's proforma. Occy health are
happy to let people see it (usual provisos). EMail me off list if you
want a copy.
