A few months ago we were being reassured that 'minor injuries' were to
remain part of core mainstream A and E i.e. Consultants (on the specialist
register) directly involved in their care. This document does seem to
suggest a distinct move away from this. Regardless as to my personal beliefs
on the appropriate direction for Emergency Medicine and Major Trauma Care as
a specialty, I do not think that statement will reassure those who feel
'minor injury'/ 'minor medicals' to be an important part of their work.
Furthermore, Matthew, I would add to your key points the statement: 'The
minor injuries service will be nurse led'.
