I think this must be the first time I've had something useful to
contribute to the list.
Re military NBC suits for a little background.
As Martyn says they are workable, but incredibly hot when done up in
the full noddy kit, any kind of physical excertion is a complete
nightmare, stretcher handling even over short distances really is hard
work, throw in any extreme temperature even normal summers and you
start to degrade very quickly.
There also tends to be one or two other problems.
Reduced field of vision due to the respirator
Believe it not recognition is problem everybody tends to lookt the same
in noddy kit
Many personnel also find them quite claustraphobic.
Loss of dexterity due to being gloved up.
One particular unit I served at used to run degredation training, i.e
leave personnel fully done up for as long as possible,just to trial the
effect on perfomacne of duties, don't forget even simple everyday tasks
like PU ing becomes a problem in a noddy suit....
