Dear Colleagues,
At Tilburg University, the Netherlands, there are three vacancies
for phd-students who would want to work on an international
comparative project on WELFARE CULTURES (typical
combinations of welfare principles, beliefs and practices).
Would you be so kind as to bring this to the attention of students
who you think might be interested?
The three projects are:
1) Changing principles and practices in social security.
2) To blame or to pity? Poverty explanations and anti-poverty
programmes.
3) Deservingness perceptions and institutionalised solidarity.
Data-resources to be used are policy documents, institutional
databases on social protection programmes and public opinion
surveys.
The projects have a standard duration of four years, salary is at
Junior Researcher level.
I would welcome applications of excellent students with a masters
degree level education in Sociology, Political Science or Social
Policy.

publications list. Deadline is 1st December 2001.
