May I add that of course Kipling's Horace gives more than just early school
boy interest in Latin and add that there is his war time jocular Horace
Book V to extend this interest. Here in Magdalene College, Latin was the
key to his involvement in College life (see Kipling's Other College, Occ
Paper No9 available from me in Magdalene supporting the Kipling
Scholarship)
