I find that I agree with the correspondent who found the Diana reaction
sickening. Even more sickening is the comparison between the two events
I've heard from a c couple of commentators - as if there could be any
comparison.
I'm sure that the tragic events in America will have myriad possible
connotations for individuals. The 'serve them right' reaction makes clear
statements about experiences of figures with 'power over'.
In the last few days I have considered my own reactions to the terrible
events and appalling images and found in my personal reaction a kind of
Jungian universality which has brought me into deeper contact with the
world. Out of profound shock can arise profound change and insight - for
some, this will be a unique opportunity to reach for a deeper maturity.
