Empowering Learners: libraries and cross-sectoral partnerships

A CPI Library & Information Policy Seminar
This seminar will examine the lifelong learning scene post-‘Empowering the
Learning Community’, with particular reference to public library
partnerships with the academic sectors. Key recent developments include the
new Learning and Skills Councils, local learning partnerships, the growth
of local access agreements and the potential for long-term contractual
arrangements for HE/FE/Public Library collaboration.
The seminar will be an opportunity to identify and debate key issues for
effective joint working, some of the current trends, barriers and
opportunities for collaboration, the drivers for change, and Government
perspectives. The focus will be on cross-sectoral partnerships in
delivering learning opportunities.

Ian Todd, Principal, City of Sunderland College.
Partnerships for learning: the role of HE
Suzanne Enright, Secretary of the M25 Consortium of HE Libraries and
Director of Information Systems and Library Services, University of
Westminster.
Local collaboration and information planning
Carl Clayton, Director of SINTO and Chair, National Forum for Information
Planning.
The seminar is taking place at The George Hotel, Stamford, Lincolnshire
from 09.30am to 4.00pm. The cost of £195.00 (including VAT) includes
morning coffee, lunch in the Garden Room, afternoon tea and seminar
proceedings (sent to delgates when published).
