I am delighted to report we have a very positive situation in North Yorkshire in that the PA officer Ceinwen Paynton and I keep in touch and we venture to think are being ground-breaking in looking at how the two sets of data connect. To this end we presented a joint paper at the Vale of York National Mapping Programme day school in May which will be published by EH next year (hopefully!).
I have taken a sample data set from Ceinwen and plotted it on GIS then looked at what the landscape history is from the SMR data and how it changed with the PA stuff. Ceinwen's research on a group of distinct Roman brooches in one parish for which we had no Roman data before suggests there may have been a jewelry-making workshop. EH AP plots show a coherent set of R-B field cropmarks nearby which fits in neatly.
As always lack of time to play with the data and start make something of it is the major inhibiting factor in progressing further.
Good luck with your paper Victoria.
