This is the third issue of the re-launched UKplayworkers Vacancy Digest.

Following your feedback the HTML look has been dumped along with the word
and rtf attachments. The UKplayworkers Vacancy Digest is now only available
as a clear and easy to read plain text e-mail.

In this issue there are 20 vacancies on offer.

Canterbury Children's Centre has recently been designated an Early
Excellence Centre and will receive additional funding for the next 3 years
to further develop its services for young children and their families, plus
outreach work supporting and developing good practice in other settings.

The successful applicants will be joining a strong team at the Centre, who
are committed to providing a range of high quality inclusive services for
young children and their families/carers.

The centre is in the Education Action Zone and the post holder will work
with a range of Early Years providers in the Zone including schools,
playgroups, day nurseries and childminders in developing a high quality
early years curriculum.

This will include support in settings plus a training programme.

You will have strong links with the Early Years and Childcare Service and
contribute to the Bradford Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership
training programme.

You must have:

5 year's experience of working with children in the Foundation Stage.
Experience of working with children with special needs.
A Teaching qualification recognised by DfES.

This is an exciting time for the Centre and you will benefit from links with
a Resident Artist at the centre promoting and researching into the role of
creativity in young children's development, and a Parental Involvement
Co-ordinator working with parents/carers.

undertake a pivotal role in play development throughout North Lincolnshire.

shows, are currently under-represented when it comes to taking up play

You will co-ordinate the delivery of the Council's school holiday programme
and work in partnership with voluntary, statutory and private play providers
to increase self-sustaining play opportunities.

Experience in managing play development services.
A relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
The ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
Supervising staff/volunteers.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

of school play opportunities for children from 4 to 15 years.  We are
looking to recruit to the following posts:

Deputy Playworker   Ref: DP01

Scale 4 £15855 - £17379   36 hours per week

Based at an open access after school club you will need at least 2 years
experience of playwork.  Hours in term time till 7.45pm daily and 6pm in
holidays.

Senior Playworker  Ref: SP01

Scale 6 £19776 - £20928  pro rata 17.5 hours per week termtime only

Must be available from 3.15pm - 6pm to run an established after school club.
Experience of managing a play site or an NVQ or equivalent qualification is
required.

Playworkers  Ref: PW01

Scale 2 - Scale 4  Apx £7.46 - £9.28 per hour depending on qualifications
and experience.

We are looking for sessional playworkers to be available to cover at our
after school clubs.  You would need some experience working with children
and be available for after school sessions starting between 3pm & 3.45pm.

Special Needs Playworker  Ref: SNP01
Scale 4 - 7.5 hours per week, termtime only, Mondays to Wednesdays
Apx £8.46 - £9.28 per hour
3 year fixed term contract

You would need to have a commitment to inclusive play and some experience of
working with children with special needs.  A current clean driving license
is essential and experience of driving a minibus would be very useful.

A Deputy Playleader is required as soon as possible to join the friendly
staff team at our well-established and popular out-of-school club at Childs
Hill School. We have 24 children aged 5-11 in each session, and activities
range from arts and crafts to indoor and outdoor games and simple cooking.

The person appointed will have a childcare or playwork qualification (NVQ,
NNEB or equivalent), experience of working with groups of children in a play
or educational setting, a positive and caring approach, and the ability to
use initiative while working as a team member. A current First Aid
certificate is desirable.

A vacancy has arisen in the Community and Recreation Services playteam for a
part-time playworker. This position is temporary to March 2002, with the
possibility of a further extension, depending on Council budget decisions.

The duties attached to this post include:

planning, promoting and delivering a wide range of play activities with
children and young people;
supporting voluntary involvement in playwork; and
assisting with the management of play venues.

Experience of work with children is essential, as is an ability to
communicate well with young people, parents and other professionals. It is
desirable that applicants have the relevant qualifications.

Most of the Council's playwork takes place on weekdays and in the late
afternoons and early evenings. Other working times will include school
holidays and an occasional weekend. The postholder will be a member of a
particular team, working at specific venues, however, you may also be
required to work at others sites.
