Dear Colleagues:
I am forwarding some information from Carma Gorman about the revival
of the Design Forum at the College Art Association in the US. If you
would like to be on the forum mailing list of think you might have
the possibility of attending the CAA, contact Carma. The Forum is the

Dear Colleagues:
The College Art Association recently announced the times and locations that
have been set aside for Design Forum's special session and business meeting
at the 2002 annual conference in Philadelphia. You may wish to add these
dates to your calendar:
DF Special Session (Where Do We Go From Here? The Future of Design Forum):
Thursday, February 21, 5:30-7:30PM, Salon D, Philadelphia Marriott, Level 5
DF Business Meeting: Saturday, February 23, 12:30-2:00PM, Independence
Ballroom Salon III, Philadelphia Marriott, Level 3
I would urge all those who are interested in participating in Design Forum's
activities in the future (in whatever capacity) to attend one or both of
these meetings. The special session on Thursday is designed to be a
round-table discussion at which all persons present will have the
opportunity to suggest activities and/or agendas they would like the
organization to promote. Because the group (which is an Affiliated Society
of CAA) has not held a formal meeting at the annual conference for a number
of years, this meeting will serve the important function of refining or
re-defining the organization's goals to meet the needs of its current
members.
Persons attending the business meeting on Saturday will design an
organizational structure appropriate to the group's goals. Those who are
interested in taking an active part, however small, in the administration of
Design Forum are strongly urged to attend. Possible activities include
election of officers, creation of committees or task forces, appointments to
editorial or webczar positions, and/or imposition of membership fees.
I should note that the rooms and times that CAA has announced should be
considered subject to change, so please be sure to check the final program
(as well as any amendments to the program that are posted at the conference
site) to confirm that the dates, times, and locations stated above are still
correct.
Please contact me if you have any questions about these upcoming events, or
about Design Forum generally.
I look forward to seeing you at the conference.
