Second announcement of a one day research symposium:
------------------------------------------------------------------
GEOGRAPHIES OF CARE: SPACES, PRACTICES, EXPERIENCES
18th September 2001
Department of Geography, University of Southampton, UK
In recent years a growing number of scholars have been researching the
spatial dimensions of social practices of care. Exploring issues such as
deinstitutionalisation, mental and physical health services, formal and
informal provision, these investigations have sought to chart the diverse
and often-complex geographies associated with the practice and experience
of care in western societies.
The aim of the symposium is to bring together people from human geography,
sociology and other social sciences to present and consider work in this
area. The symposium is intended to be a relaxed and collegial forum for
discussion and interaction.
