I've always used Prilocaine with preservative for Biers Blocks and not had a
problem. Astra-Zeneca have also withdrawn 0.5% Prilocaine with preservative.
We have been doing research using 1% Prilocaine for Bier's blocks, Peter
Cutting SPR (now Blacpool) has led this. The comparison is between 1%
Prilocaine 20ml followed by 20ml N Saline versus 40 ml 0.5% Prilcaine
(stockpiled!). I'll leave Peter to comment on any results.
You can still get plain Prilocaine from a hospital pharmacy dept (?Southend)
and 0.5% Prilocaine with preservative from Switzerland (although the inserts
are all in German and French).
