Hi Matthew,
Firstly I should say hello to everyone, as I ve been away from acad-ae-
med for sometime.
Re the subject of Para's in A&E, and for that matter other departments
In my particular field (remote area support) our guys often rotate
through A&E and Amb Svc placements on a fairly regular basis. I can't
speak for everyone but from my perspective three important things come
out my rotations.
1. Obvioulsy the clinical experience is good
2. I think it builds understanding from a team perspective, certainly
after each placement I go away with a better understanding of what A&E
Staff expect (and need) from the guys on the road
3. No it works in reverse, a lot of my patient work is done over the
phone or radio and the rotations help me understand what my Topside
docs want from me.
I know my situations is slightly peculiar but I thinks its relevant,
Best wishes
