Those interested in how the new 'Crusade' discourse might be read
differently in the 'Arab World' (and beyond) may usefully consult a critical
book on the Crusades through Arab eyes by Amin Maalouf. The English language
translation (by Jon Rotschild) is:
A Maalouf (1984) The Crusades through Arab Eyes (London, Al Saiqi Books)

I was also appalled to hear this word used by Bush. Is it really possible
that he was ignorant of its implications? He certainly gave that appearance.
I am really mystified by this. What do other people think?
It is terrible that so many people were killed.
