Day Conference

CALL FOR PAPERS
On behalf of the BSA Protest and Social Movements Study Group we
call for papers on the topic of Social Movements & Social Welfare. All
contributions will be considered and are welcome from students and
scholars working in a diversity of fields as well as activists. The call for
papers is left open deliberately because this is an area that is, as yet,
underdeveloped. Issues to consider may include the following although
this list is not exhaustive:
The historical role of social movements in welfare and social policy
The future role of social movements in welfare and social policy
‘New’social movements and social welfare
To offer a paper please submit an abstract of no more than 200 words
before 30th September 2001 to the conference convenor:

Fee: £40 (£25 for students, unwaged and BSA members)
The last date for bookings is 14th December 2001. A programme will be
available soon after the closing date for submission of abstracts. When
booking please make cheques payable to ‘The British Sociological
Association’ and specify any dietary requirements.
The conference will take place in room 11.13 in the Economic and Social
Studies Building at the University of Leeds on 17th January 2002 between
10am and 5pm. Lunch and other refreshments will be provided
throughout the day.
