I and two other health economists in our Econ Dept. are facing an
interesting journal evaluation issue on which we would like to get feedbacks
from economists who are iHEA members.
The issue is how articles published in non-econ journals - such as those
included in MEDLINE but not in EconLit - should be evaluated. Our Dept.
Chair and some faculty feel strongly that these "non-econ" journals should
not be considered as "A" journals unless articles in them cite a substantial
number of economics articles as references. Consequently, journals such as
JAMA, U of Am Pub Health, and J of Gerontology will not get an "A" ranking
in our Dept.
We'd like to get information on how other economics departments deal with
this issue and your feedback will be appreciated. Please respond to
[log in to unmask] Thank you.
