Attached you will find the consultation document: Tackling
Health Inequalities: consultation on a plan for delivery.
The purpose of this document is to consult across
Government and across sectors at national, regional and
local levels on how the national health inequality targets
in the areas of life expectancy and infant mortality will
be delivered. The consultation is aimed at anyone with a
responsibility for or interest in tackling health
inequalities. This includes people in the NHS, social
services, local government, schools, the emergency
services, community and voluntary sector organisations,
academics, employers, trade unions, central and local
government policy makers and regional agencies who all
have a role to play in reducing health inequalities
You are invited to give your views on the key issues
raised in the document by Friday 9th November. Please send
your responses, preferably by e-mail, to

Inequalities Consultation Team, Department of Health, Room

8UG.
There will also be Regional Workshops in every region
during September and October to support the consultation
process. These are being organised by the Health
Development Agency (HDA). You are welcome to join these to
give your views in person (subject to availability). For
