I installed IBM's XRR package this week and have evaluated it in light of
our requirements. It looks like we can borrow from the functionality and
some of the UI, but I think we are better off using the EOR services to
provide the registry functions, i.e., login, infuse, search, etc...
The biggest problems I see with XRR is that, with the exception of the
interface classes, it is not open-source. Items stored into the repository
are saved as XMLCLOBs, by the Registry class (source not provided). This
will make it difficult to modify for our purposes.
The XRR tutorial is attached and provides a good overview of the products
functionality. I see our functional requirements being very similar.
