Critters.
It seems some want Treanor's blood. ..now let's talk about
violence...
I think one of the points that is being, perhaps deliberately, missed
is the level of disagreement and fracture amongst protesters at
these global protests. Disagreement about tactics, about solutions
etc etc, even some disagreement about the reasons for being there
permaeate those events - people at the bottom line are there
representing 'the contrary'; they want change.
I do agree however, with PT, that once violence and media capital
is generated non/less violent groups and individuals can and do
further capitalise on riotous disturbance. This may be distasteful to
some, but classically disturbance to the 'normal' opens conditions
of possibility that are to be grasped with both hands.
In any case violence is what is presented as violence - according to
the definitions in the Terrorism Act 2000 the Blair government want
almost anything to be construed and presented as 'violence'.
Perhaps being contrary is violent? Come on Paul hit me again... ;-|
