Indeed; the same comments apply to the people who run Rally Ambulances for the car
rally people and often are very well trained. The expression 'first-aider' with its slightly
pejorative air does not do you or them justice. However, there are undoubtedly cowboys
out there, and there does need to be a mechanism whereby a form of registration and
acknowledgement may be carried out. Apart from the Edexcel stuff I know of nothing
around, and I suspect Edexcel is expensive for outsiders because it is supported in other
ways by statutory ambulance services and so they only need pass on a small amount to
the individual member.
A thought - what about Red Cross/St John?
