With the emergence of XML-enabled QDA software, is there any coordinated
effort to develop the XML Schemas and DTDs needed for sharing, exchange,
and presentation of XML-tagged qualitative analysis products?
It seems that many interest groups in business, education, and research
are developing special markup languages using XML to handle the unique
communication and storage needs of their community of practice. Such an
effort might promote a growth in application of QDA products, given that
standard public tools (e.g., web browsers) would allow access to, and
even manipulation and transformation of, such data. It could help the
coordination of qualitative work between researchers, and the exchange
of data between qualitative analysis software packages.
Who might be working on the needed "Qualitative Data Markup Language"
(QDML) or "Qualitative Data Definition Language" (QDDL)?
