A Conference for managers, decision-makers, and senior practitioners in
Scottish FE,
Venue: Stirling University
Date: 29 & 30 August 2001.

[Apologies for cross posting]. Delegates from all of Scotland's 47 colleges
of FE are warmly invited to this major conference for Scottish Further
Education to be held at Stirling University. The conference, supported by
the Scottish Further Education Funding Council, aims to help colleges gain
insights to questions such as the following:

        - What is an MLE?
        - What is a VLE?
        - Why does my college need one? (Does my college need one?)
        - When?
        - Who else has got one?
        - What are they using it for?
        - Which one should we buy?
        - What is interoperability?
        - What will the future hold for MLEs?
        - How can we use one to enhance teaching and learning?
        - What new possibilities does a VLE bring to our distant/open/flexible
learning programmes?

The two day event will consist of keynote presentations, case studies of
work in progress, vendor presentations, hands on sessions to try out various
products and systems, and panel discussions to answer your questions.

The JISC Regional Support Centres have already invited each college to send
*up to three delegates* to the conference. This is being coordinated through
letters which have gone to all Principals. In addition, it will be possible
to admit a restricted number of additional persons from the FE community who
have an interest in Managed Learning Environments.
