medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Yes, it is an intriguing point. Especially, for myself and my work, since
'just next door' there were many (comparatively!) Swedish female saints at
the time. I remember a point made by Bridget Morris, that in the 14thC, St
Birgitta of Sweden was the only female saint to be canonized (period).
Clearly, there must have been a preference for the canonization of more
public figures, mostly male, during that time.
Now, for the case of Wales, could this be a matter of 'missing' information?
Lack of written word, etc? Or lack of contact with Rome?
Yours,
Sara
