Speakers: Roger Burke-Hamilton, DTI and Alan Pawsey, HMSO.
UK Online is a government campaign to get people businesses and government
itself online. The Citizen portal (www.ukonline.gov.uk) is intended to be
the preferred means of access to government services by individual
citizens, particularly where information and interrelated services come
from a number of government departments. This month, open.gov services are
moving to the Citizen Portal.
Roger Burke-Hamilton will outline what UK Online has to offer and discuss
the thinking behind the initiative with indications of future services.
Alan Pawsey will consider the implications of opening up access to
government information and will describe the new "Click-Use" Crown
copyright regime and the Government Information Asset Register.
Free light refreshments available afterwards and the opportunity to
network with other information professionals. The meeting is open to all
with a professional interest in the topic.
