If you've heard of the technique of heuristic evaluation, then you'll
also have heard of Jakob Nielsen's famous 10 Heuristic Guidelines.
But are these heuristics still relevant for new devices like mobile
phones, handhelds and interactive TV? Do we need other heuristics
for evaluating today's devices and interfaces?
We are developing a new interactive website that aims to help
students, designers and others to learn about and work out what is
the most appropriate set of heuristics for evaluating a range of new
devices, including mobile phones and pockets PCs.
Please help us in evaluating this website. Once tested and redesigned
the interactive tool will be placed (along with a number of other
learning interactivities and resources we are also developing) on a
much larger website on interaction design (to run alongside a new
textbook on Interaction Design, coming out in the autumn). The goal
is to provide an extensive teaching resource (which will be freely
available to all) that provides students with the chance to practice
'hands-on' interaction design methods.
If you are a usability consultant, interaction designer, tutor or HCI
student we would like to receive your comments on our prototype for
this interactive website. In particular we would like to know how
helpful you would find the website and how useful you find its
interactivity.
The URL for the website is:

Thank you for your help

(Apologies for any technical problems you might encounter - this is
still only a prototype)
