This is only a very limited solution, I know, but you can get the
superscripts for x^2 and x^3 by using Alt-253 and Alt-252.
You can also format a graph title directly by clicking on it, then
highlighting & right-clicking the part you want to format: that
certainly enables you to have x^y with y superscript, for example.

The general problem of copying & concatenating formats exactly
shouldn't be too hard to deal with using VBA.
