International Conference
"Global Knowledge Russia"
Moscow, 28-29 September 2001
The Global Knowledge Partnership, The British Council - Russia, World
Bank Institute Moscow Office, the Institute of the Information Society -
Russia and International Forum "Global Experience and Russian Economy"
along with various national, regional and international partner
institutions are organizing the International Conference "Global
Knowledge Russia" (28-29 September, 2001, Moscow) as regional follow-up
event for the Global Knowledge II Conference.
Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP) is an evolving, informal partnership
of nearly 70 organizations, committed to sharing information,
experiences and resources to promote broad access to, and effective use
of, knowledge and information as tools of sustainable, equitable
development.
The objectives of the GK Russia are: to raise awareness of Russian
decision makers, specialists and broad public on GKP activities; to
involve Russian Federation with its incomparable scientific,
educational, cultural and innovative resources and potential in GKP; to
present and discuss GK related Russian and overseas programs and
projects complying with the goals and objectives of Global Knowledge
Partnership.
Program of the Conference
It is expected that the following topics will be covered at the plenary
talks:
- Global Knowledge Partnership: Main Lines of Activities
- Digital Divide in Russia
- Federal Program "e-Russia"
- Federal Program "Creation of Educational Information Infrastructure in
the Russian Federation"
- Overview of the World Bank's Knowledge Agenda
- Information Society Development in Russia: Conceptual Issues
- Development Gateway
- Partnership for e-Development in Russia
- Knowledge for Development
- Global Development Learning Network
- Euro-Asia Virtual University Project
and others.
At the same time the following parallel Sections will be organized:

Section 3. e-Development Partnership
Section 4. Human Resource Development
Section 5. Digital Divide in Russia
Section 6. The First Euro-Asia Student Scientific Internet-Conference

How to contribute
Those wishing to present papers for above mentioned and related topics
are kindly requested to submit a 500 words summary. E-mail submissions

The proposals should be accompanied by the full information about the
author(s), e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers of the contact
person.
Deadlines
Summary received: 2 July 2001
Notification of acceptance: 27 July 2001
Full paper received: 28 August 2001
Conference: 28-29 September 2001
Proceedings will be produced as a special issue of the Russian
Information Society Journal after the conference. The details of the
local organization, registration etc. will be published and distributed
after 1 June 2001.
