Oh Gerald, just worked it out, I often toy with the idea of writing a DSMIV
criteria for normality, perhaps some of the group would contribute I could
collate it and we could submit it as a ??????Disorder????
I can see ourselves saying to our patients ......
'Sorry I have to inform you that your Doctors diagnosis is incorrect you are
not suffering from reactive depressive disorder, no, It is a boring normality
disorder, the symptoms that you describe as the inability to experience
passion, excitement, disappointment, anger, greed, fear or loathing, having
moderate levels of motivation, able to discuss issues of concerns without
raising your voice, able to see everyone else's point of view, completely
free of prejudice, regular and satisfactory sexual activity, your monthly
shop at Marks & Spencers, having 2.4 children is in fact a mental illness.
There is help though, dont despair, oooops no actually maybe you need a bit
of despair ummmmmmm
how would we deal with this????
