Thanks for that I have read some Plummer in Kevin Howells 'Psychology of
sexual diversity' but not on research, so will check that out, thanks. I have
just sent some diaries to some list members who are evaluating it for me,
but will look at the book you mention. It sounds like just what I need at
this stage. Its not gay men I wnat to resarch, but I ams ure this will help
with my methodolgy reliablity and so on.......
Thanks again

<< Dear Diana
Some reading thoughts. Try looking at Documents of Life..by Ken Plummer
I remember well it looks at methodological issues involved in using peoples
own stories and diaries or self-accounts. He's based at Essex University,
as are/were other academics who carried out a huge survey/study on the
sexual behaviour(s) of gay men ...which involved the keeping of detailed
diaries over a quite a long period of time I think. There should be some
relevant literature about methodology, ethics, validity & reliability around
this study. Sorry I can't be more specific. You could try contacting either
Prof Ken Plummer or Prof Tony Coxon at Essex University, or tapping in their
names for an internet search and see what references come up.
Good luck
