Paul
I'm sorry I could not get back to you on Friday, but I had other more urgent
work at the time.
As discussed in January the way you claim your ArcView link was working was
not how it had been designed to function. Both myself and Dr Perrins agreed
that the ArcView module has always linked on the MonUID and RecordType, with
one additional field of data (usually Name or PrefRef) being thrown across
to the ArcView map table. Although other fields of data may be included in
the table there could not exist a direct link to more than those first three
fields. The order of these fields has always been important for this
function to work correctly. On upgrading to Access97, after many emails and
phone discussions with yourself and Alison the only change you had to apply
to make the link work correctly (in our view) was changing the order of some
of the fields in the map table.
The only loss of functionality was the copying of the first record, for your
additional field of data, when creating a new object instead of the data for
the new object. This problem had been fixed with the file sent in April, I
have included this file again just copy it to your \smrv2\mdb directory
overwriting the previous xg_map.mde file.
Did anyone else continue to have the problem after loading the file new
xg_map.mde file , I didn't hear from anyone else at the time?
We are currently looking at the re-programming of the ArcView module for the
version 8.1 of ArcView, which I'm sure many of you know has changed its
programming language. We would be like to hear from our HBSMR/ArcView
clients as soon as they know when they will be upgrading to this latest
version of ArcView, so that we can assess the time scale for creating the
new link.
Amanda
